Backgroundstory

With an international airbridge, conducted from Falkonara in Italy, which started July 3 1992, hundreds of thousands of people trapped in Sarajevo which was besieged by the Bosnian Serbs, were supplied with all kinds of neccessary goods for daily life. German Transall transport aircraft flew until January 4 1996 1412 missions where they transported ca. 10800 tons of material and 3875 persons. On February 6 1993 a severe incident happend when a Transall from TW62 was shot at on approach and the loadmaster got severely injured.

This print represents Luftwaffe operations on the Balkans and stands symbolic for all three transport wings which participated in the Sarajevo airbridge.
